How Tankless Water Heaters Work
With a tankless water heater, cold water is heated only when needed, and it stays hot until you're done using it. Resulting in an endless supply of hot water and little to no wasted energy.
- A hot water fixture is turned on
- Tankless water heater senses the need for hot water
- Cold water enters the system
- Flame ignites and heats the heat exchangers
- Water preheats as it passes through the secondary heat exchanger
- Warm water continues to heat to desired temperature as it passes through stainless steel primary heat exchanger
- Hot water exits the unit and travels to the water fixture where it is needed
- Flame output adjusts as needed to maintain water temperature during use
- When hot water usage is complete, water stops flowing and the flame turns off
